DetailsThis curious find is made up of a cast iron box marked "Chicago Watchclock Station" with an attached brass key on a chain. I have no idea what this was used for but I acquired it from an Amish antiques auction in Pennsylvania some time ago. It was very rusty but as you can see from the photos, it cleaned up quite nicely.
By the looks of the cast iron, I'm guessing its from the early to mid 1900s. Hard to say.
This would make for a very unusual piece of rustic home decor.
The screw in the back is quite pointy so be careful when handling. Personally, I would just take the screw out but I don't really want to alter anything about this unique item. There are remnants of a blue plastic wall screw anchor around the screw. This suggests to me that somebody probably found it and hung it up in their home years later. Maybe as a decoration.
Whatever this thing is, it sure is cool! A great conversation piece for sure.

How do you handle refunds for items received damaged?
All of our domestic shipments are insured. Just send us photos of the damaged item(s) and packaging within 3 days of receipt and we will issue an immediate refund, including original shipping charges. International Buyers will need to seek refunds from the shipping carrier; Bleak House 302 will be happy to provide you with purchase receipts, if needed.
What if I'm unhappy with the item once received?
