DetailsAnother mystery skillet! It appears to be an unmarked No. 5 probably made in the early 1900s. Very hard to say. Usually I can identify these quite easily but I don’t know what to make of this one.
In my experience, unmarked skillets from the early 1900s have a certain look and feel. Most often noticeably heavier than a Griswold / Erie and do not have heat rings. Most of the early 1900s unmarked skillets are believed to be made by Lodge or companies like Red Mountain and Birmingham Stove & Range. Those mystery skillets usually heavier, without heat rings and are of noticeably lesser quality all around.
This skillet however is different. For starters, it’s a VERY well made skillet. It’s extremely smooth, has a heat ring, and feels light for a #5 which I believe to be this skillets size.
A rare find in nearly flawless condition. There are some wire wheel marks to the outer rim (pictured above) and some scratches to the back of the handle (also pictured above.) Other than that, this mystery skillet is a peach!
Lays completely flat.
No cracks, no chips.
The cooking surface is excellent!
It was fairly rusted when it came in but as you can see, it cleaned up quite nice.
Cleaned, oiled and ready for the kitchen!
Measures approximately 12.5” from handle and 8.5” spout to spout.

How do you handle refunds for items received damaged?
All of our domestic shipments are insured. Just send us photos of the damaged item(s) and packaging within 3 days of receipt and we will issue an immediate refund, including original shipping charges. International Buyers will need to seek refunds from the shipping carrier; Bleak House 302 will be happy to provide you with purchase receipts, if needed.
What if I'm unhappy with the item once received?

We do not want unhappy customers! :( You may return any undamaged item within 7 days of receipt for a full credit of the sale price.
